Union Gospel Mission seeks underwear, clothes and more
Portland , OR- Union Gospel Mission is seeking underwear, clothing, hygiene items and donations for “Operation Overcoat” the Mission ’s annual September clothing drive. The Operation Overcoat clothing giveaway and barbeque will take place on Saturday September 29.
There are three ways to help:
- Union Gospel Mission is looking for churches and groups to make September 16 “Undie Sunday” to collect new underwear and socks. The group that brings in the most items by September 17 will win tickets to see Casting Crowns in concert. For more information call 503-274-4483 or visit www.ugmportland.org
- Donate clothing for men, women and children. Union Gospel Mission is also collecting hygiene items. Collection barrels are in place at Christian Supply Stores.
- Make a cash donation, or donate hamburger buns and cheese for the barbeque.
In previous years, thousands of articles of clothing have been distributed and over 2,000 meals have been served at Operation Overcoat to people who are homeless or in need.
