Union Gospel Mission in need of clothing to distribute to homeless
Donations of clothing drop off dramatically
Portland , OR- Union Gospel Mission’s clothing closet for homeless and needy people has been fairly empty the past two weeks. Usually at least 40 pairs of men’s pants have been available to distribute to people coming to the Mission ’s door in need of clothing. Recently, only 10 pairs have been available.
The top three items needed are men’s pants, undergarments for both men and women and t-shirts.
Jeff Palen, a member of the LifeChange recovery community at Union Gospel Mission manages the clothing distribution said that recently donations of clothing have dropped off significantly.
The clothing donation drop off may be due to the warmer weather. In winter months, donations of critically needed clothing and blankets typically increase.
Clothing donations may be dropped off at Union Gospel Mission at 15 NW Third Avenue in Portland . Donors may also support Union Gospel Mission by making a financial contribution securely online at www.ugmportland.org or contact the Union Gospel Mission at 503-274-4483.
