Portland, OR-Haggen Food & Pharmacy and Union Gospel Mission will be conducting a food drive to benefit the homeless and needy this Thanksgiving holiday season. The food drive takes place from November 8 through November 26 at participating Haggen Food & Pharmacy stores.
Union Gospel Mission anticipates serving over 30,000 meals during the holiday season and as many as 1,500 on Thanksgiving Day. As the economy worsens and the weather gets colder, Union Gospel Mission anticipates an increase in demand for meals, clothing and other vital services for people in need.
“We are grateful for community partners like Haggen Food & Pharmacy, and their willingness to make it easy for the community to donate food for people who are in need this holiday season,” said Bill Russell, Executive Director of Union Gospel Mission.
Union Gospel Mission is seeking donations of non-perishable canned and boxed food items. Donors also may purchase pre-stuffed bags of groceries that include rice, pasta and soup for $5 apiece at Haggen stores and donate them to the Union Gospel Mission.
Participating Haggen stores:
- Murray Hill Haggen Food & Pharmacy, 9055 S.W. Murray Blvd., Beaverton.
- Oregon City Haggen Food & Pharmacy, 19701 Highway 213.
- Tanasbourne Haggen Food & Pharmacy, 18000 N.W. Evergreen Pkwy., Beaverton.
- Tualatin Haggen Food & Pharmacy, 8515 S.W. Tualatin-Sherwood Road.
