Food Drive kick-off includes grocery dash, Miss Oregon , Mr. Turkey and fun
Union Gospel Mission Thanksgiving Food Drive begins November 2

Portland , OR- Union Gospel Mission has a zany kick-off planned for the Mission ’s Thanksgiving Food Drive. On Friday November 2 nd starting at 9:30 am at the Food 4 Less Store at 7979 SE Powell Boulevard, the food drive will begin with a 103 second grocery store dash, where the lucky winner of a contest by K103 radio will race through the aisles collecting groceries. Food 4 Less will match the cost of the dash in a cash donation to Union Gospel Mission.

In the parking lot of Food 4 Less Union Gospel Mission will have a tent set up with games, including turkey bowling, and canned food hoops to encourage people to fill the Union Gospel Mission truck with donations of food to help homeless people this Thanksgiving Season.

Miss Oregon , Sharitha McKenzie will be present at the beginning of the kick-off events, and another distinguished guest throughout the kick-off event, will be “Mr. Turkey .” Union Gospel Mission will be on-site at Food 4 Less until 5:00 pm with the goal of filling up the Union Gospel Mission truck with donated food by the end of the day.

Food 4 Less will have donation barrels at their store through November 21 to collect food for Union Gospel Mission.
