LifeChange– An addiction recovery community

“An Awesome Journey”
First in a six part series: LifeChange Graduates- Six in ‘06

Dave White is one of six LifeChange members who will graduate February 2006. After four years in LifeChange, Dave calls the incredible changes in his life, especially in his spiritual life, “an awesome journey.”

Before coming to LifeChange, and in his addiction, Dave recalls, “In my past life, I was not a good person, God knew this before I knew him. Titus 3:3 says, ‘At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.’ Before Jesus found me I did a lot of things that hurt my family and my friends and my body.”

His body was hurt, as Dave had hepatitis C, a very dangerous liver disease. Dave relied on God as he dealt with his illness. The night before Dave was awaiting results of a test to determine the extent of the disease, Dave says, “I got together with my best friend Jesus…I thanked Him for touching my life and making Himself really known to me. I asked Jesus if it be your will, please heal me, but if not I still praise you…”

The next day, the doctor told Dave that the illness was no longer present. The disease was gone.

“My eyes filled with water and I looked straight up and thanked my best friend for hearing my cry. It was so real, God’s presence fell on me and He told me He loved me again.”

After four years in LifeChange Dave is preparing to graduate, a restored and happy man and willing to share his testimony about Jesus.

Dave offers this encouragement to others: “I pray this testimony of God’s power will give you the courage and hope as God’s chosen we can overcome any obstacle or circumstance in life. Through Christ Jesus we are given strength and salvation. And finally, 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in your weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.’ Amen.”

What is LifeChange?

LifeChange is a community. Each member of LifeChange lives and works together at the Mission. The cornerstone of LifeChange is faith in the transforming power of Jesus Christ. LifeChange is a peer-based, each resident helps each other to identify issues and grow in their recovery. LifeChange is self-governed, as residents work together to make decisions as a community. LifeChange is long-term, and goal– oriented. Most residents spend two to four years to complete LifeChange.
