Union
Gospel Mission launches "Operation Overcoat" clothing
drive
Mission seeks winter clothing, hygiene items, and donations
Portland,
OR- Union Gospel Mission's "Operation Overcoat" clothing
drive is underway. Union Gospel Mission is collecting clothing,
new undergarments, and hygiene items to give away to homeless
and needy men, women and children. "Operation Overcoat"
culminates on Saturday, September 25 when Union Gospel Mission
will close off the street in front of the Mission at 15 NW Third
Ave., and give away clothing, hygiene items, and provide a free
barbeque meal, Christian outreach and music.
"At Operation
Overcoat, people in need can get clothing for the coming winter
months in a caring and fun environment. This event has grown a
great deal since it began five years ago. We are expecting to
serve over 2,000 people," said Bill Russell, Executive Director
at Union Gospel Mission.
Union Gospel
Mission is seeking clothing, new undergarments and hygiene items.
Items may be dropped off at any greater Portland area Christian
Supply Store and at Gresham Ford in Gresham. Items may also be
dropped off at Union Gospel Mission at 15 NW Third Ave. in Portland.
Cash donations are also needed to provide for the meal, and donations
may be made securely online at www.ugmportland.org, or by mail
