Union
Gospel Mission plans huge Thanksgiving feast for the homeless
and needy
Not too late to help provide food for the meal
Portland,
OR- Union Gospel Mission will erect a huge tent on NW Third Ave.,
between Burnside and NW Couch streets to provide more than 1,200
meals for Portland's homeless and needy this Thanksgiving. The
meal includes the traditional Thanksgiving fare- turkey, mashed
potatoes and gravy, yams, vegetables, pie and coffee. At the event
several bands will provide live music, and over 200 volunteers
will prepare and serve the meal and assist with the event.
It's still
not too late to donate food to support the meal. Needed items
include: dinner rolls, canned vegetables, gravy mix, mashed potato
mix (boxed) and coffee. Food can be dropped off at Union Gospel
Mission at 15 NW Third Ave., or in designated donation barrels
at participating Thriftway stores in the greater Portland area,
as well as in Lake Oswego, Canby, Hillsboro, Beaverton, Gresham,
Troutdale, Molalla, Estacada, and Tigard. (See attached listing

The Thanksgiving
meal event will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November
27 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The event will take place in a 120-foot
long tent in front of Union Gospel Mission at 15 NW Third Ave.,
between Burnside and NW Couch streets.
