Union Gospel Mission gears up to serve 1,200 meals on Thanksgiving Day
Street closure planned to accommodate event

Portland, OR- Union Gospel Mission is gearing up to serve as many as 1,200 meals for Portland’s homeless and needy on Thanksgiving Day. To accommodate this event NW Third Ave between Burnside and Couch streets will be closed during the event and large tent, donated by NW Natural Gas will be erected in the street. The event will include live music, and traditional Thanksgiving fare such as turkey, yams, rolls, pie, juice and coffee. Nearly 200 volunteers from the community will be involved in preparing and serving the meal.

The event takes place on November 25, from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm on NW Third Ave. in front of Union Gospel Mission ( 15 NW Third Ave.) and is free and open to anyone seeking a meal.

Food donations may be dropped off this Saturday November 20 at the Union Gospel Mission food drive at Haggen Foods at 8515 SW Tualatin-Sherwood Hwy. in Tualatin between 12 noon and 4:00 pm.
